Nordic Track Treadmill Review - What's New for 2011

By Kathryn ONeill

Thinking about buying a Nordic Track Treadmill? Wondering if it's a good buy for you?
The good news is that treadmills these days give you more than ever. The thing I love about NordicTrack treadmills is that they are always improving. Every year, they come out with newer, better models. And the new 2011 models are a great example of this.

There are several key features on these new treadmills that will help make your workouts a lot more fun and enjoyable. Here are some of the best new treadmill features:
#1 Built-In Web Browser
Yes, you read that right. Nordictrack has now put a built-in Android web browser into a few of their new models. Kind of like an iPad, the 10" full-color display console connects to the wireless signal in your home. From there you can surf the net, read your emails, catch up on business news or log in to facebook - all while working out.
Note however that only a few new models offer this feature. Plus if you don't have wireless internet in your home, you won't be able to connect with your treadmill.

#2 iFit LIVE Built-In
While iFit LIVE was introduced last year on several treadmills, you had to buy an iFit module. This year, some of the new treadmills come with iFit LIVE built-in, which means you don't have the extra expense of buying the module (which was a big complaint with buyers).
What is iFit LIVE? It's a new technology that helps you turn a boring old treadmill into your own personal fitness trainer.

With iFit LIVE you can connect your treadmill to the Internet and download new workout programs. You can track your workout statistics over time to see how far you've come.
iFit LIVE also works with Googlemaps and GoogleTerrain so that you can map out your favorite running route and the treadmill mimics the actual route with the treadmill (incline where the trail goes up, shows landmarks on the console screen, etc.). It's kind of like virtual reality in a treadmill

#3 Decline
Most treadmills include some form of incline (where the treadmill slopes up). But some of the new Nordic track treadmills are also including decline as well (where the treadmill slopes down). This will help you better crosstrain and work different muscles. It's also a neat tool to use with iFit LIVE trails - to make it feel more realistic.

Other New Features:
Other improvements can be found in more protective cushioning systems, longer warranties and even wider and longer decks - giving you more room to move.
Other popular features that Nordic Track treadmills offer include iPod docks, console speakers, built-in fans and one-touch speed and incline controls.

Keep in mind that not all new models carry all of these new features. You have to do some research to find which treadmill is right for your budget and needs. But if you're looking for a more fun and effective workout, you can definitely find a Nordic Track treadmill that you love!
